This is a translation of an exercise in the book 朝5分ドリル – 小学1年. I translated it myself first, and then made some corrections based on the Japanese.io translation feature. Mistranslated items have footnotes below the translated text.

Translation

Bear’s Persimmon Tree

At bear’s house, there’s a large Japanese persimmon.
When it became fall, many persimmons grew.
When a year passes, Mr. [1] An old bear is unable to climb up the tall tree.
So, monkey is able to be [2] called.
Monkey climbed the tree and took the persimmons.
Bear and Monkey filled up on persimmons.

  1. I didn’t realize 年をとった is a set phrase, so mistranslated this
  2. Translated this too literally
