In an attempt to study while I am dealing with eyestrain problems, I decided that it makes sense to try and dictate summaries of podcasts as I listen to them. Dictating exact translations was too much work, and I am trying to get better at being OK with just understanding the gist of things. So, this is what I came up with.
As this is a dictation, and I am trying to not look at a screen, there will be capitalization issues and perhaps other minor problems. I am trying to go back and fix important grammar issues as they arrive, but I am not going to bother making the capitalization perfect.
- the host talks about how she made a vocabulary list before making the episode, and that she shared it on Patreon.
- the host mentions how the Patreon contents will not be viewable by non-patrons.
- the host describes the game and talks about how it’s on an island and you can build a house in care for the world. And also how it is a Nintendo game.
- she’s in describes how the game has fruits that you can collect and that you can share foods with other people.
- She lists apples peaches and cherries as example fruits you can collect
- She talks about how you can get fruits from friends, plant them in your own island and increase the amount of fruit you have in total
- She mentions how you cannot send fruit via the mail.
- She talks about how you can also buy things in the game.
- As well as how you can sell and use items.
- she relates the game’s buying and returning mechanics to buying and returning T-shirt sizes from a retailer such as Uniqlo
- She talks about how in the game you build a house and you need money for it. And also notes how it’s kind of close to real life which is a little bit bitter.
- She then talks about how there’s loans in the game, if you want to build a larger house.
- she makes a language note about how to properly say that you’re in a loan. For example it isn’t ローンをする, it’s ローンを組む
- She then talks about how you can make designs with pixel art in the game.
- She talks about how drawing can be difficult so you can take a picture with your phone and upload things.
- she hasn’t made her own designs yet, but she seen designs on the Internet.
- there are kimono designs by real designers and the host says they’re very pretty.
- she talks about the variety of designs, such as clothing from games and anime, as well as different types of clothing like bathing suits and kimonos.
- She talks about how people can connect in the game and having it while people were stuck at home due to coronavirus was good timing.
- She talks about how a couple even got married in the game.
- they had plans to get married but couldn’t because of coronavirus. So, the couples friends surprise them in animal crossing throwing them a wedding. Who saw the photos on Twitter and said it looks like fun.
- the host talks about how you can talk with all kinds of characters in the game.
- She mentions hell playing in Japanese might be difficult, however you might want to try.
- there are a lot of people talking about it on the Internet, and the host says that you can try looking at that chatter.
