This is a blog that hosts my Japanese writing practice (via prompts and diaries), translation practice, and other learning updates. View all posts.

I write about my learning process and other things on my other blog!

My translation of the easier version of the “Akiko’s American Foreign Exchange” story on Satori Reader.

Every night I make dinner with my host family. Afterwards we do things like eat and drink together, it’s fun. Ginger and Scott are both working as regular employees. But despite this, at 6 PM, everybody gets together and eats dinner. In Japan, this is the unthinkable.

This was a huge culture shock to me. Furthermore, not only ginger but also Scott cooked. And cleaned up. They say the side who has time does things like clean and laundry. What a good custom! I was a little moved. I think I want Japanese men to follow their example~
